Trip to Innsbruck
The two-day trip of our Customer Service Team to Innsbruck, a beautiful city in Austria, was an exciting experience. At our long-time partner Bartenbach, an expert in lighting design and research, we had a fascinating, inspiring, and educational day. After a city tour, we enjoyed a traditional Tyrolean meal and solved puzzles in an escape room. On the second day of the trip, we hiked together to the famous ski jump.

2004-2024: 20 Years of XAL Germany
We naturally celebrated this anniversary in style! With all 65 of our employees, we headed to the idyllic Walchensee. Together, we explored the picturesque surroundings through hikes, bike tours, and exciting rafting adventures. A relaxed boat trip on the sparkling lake, offering a stunning view of the surrounding mountains, was another program highlight. Under a bright blue sky, we enjoyed not only shared sports activities but also cozy gatherings and exchanges with colleagues. The crystal-clear water of the lake invited us to relax as we proudly looked back on two successful decades. We concluded the two days with delicious food and refreshing drinks in a cheerful atmosphere and are already looking forward to the next 20 years full of team spirit and success at XAL.

Exclusive interview with Stephan Hierzer
What criteria did you consider for selecting the first location in Germany?
The proximity to my homeland Austria made the location very attractive, but Munich's unique infrastructure was also a decisive criterion. I have always greatly appreciated the sociable Bavarian culture and the green landscape as well.
How quickly did XAL establish itself in the German market?
In 2004, we had our first trade fair appearance at Light + Building in Frankfurt as an Austrian lighting manufacturer. After that, everything developed quite quickly, initially through sales representatives, and then gradually with the establishment of our own sales network. We continually set new goals for ourselves and constantly evolve, and that is what defines XAL.
Is there something from the past 20 years that you particularly like to remember?
Trade fairs like Light + Building in Frankfurt especially stand out in my memory. One project I always like to remember because it was very special and extensive is our Heidelberg Cement project: from the special lighting to the installation, we handled everything. It was not an easy project, but we fought for it. And it was also one of the largest projects we have implemented in the last 20 years.
What makes you proud at XAL?
I am proud that we have built a strong and stable team over the past few years. We have wonderful employees and bright minds in all areas. Everyone works together and pursues the same goal of further developing the brand and establishing ourselves even more deeply in the German market. And of course, there are special projects from recent years that still make me proud: among our clients were well-known individuals who now work or live "under our lights" every day. I think that's something to be very proud of.
What was your highlight at the event for 20 years of XAL?
One highlight was the beautiful hike up Herzogstand. It was strenuous, but together we fought our way up. There were really many beautiful moments. On the second day, I participated in the mountain bike tour, while another part of the team went white-water rafting, which, judging by the pictures and stories, was an exciting experience. The event definitely showed that we have an incredibly good camaraderie and a strong team spirit and that everyone stands up for each other. A collegial and friendly interaction at eye level and a good working atmosphere have always been important to me. And that remains just as important today.
